This week, we have a story out of Houston.  In a nutshell, a would-be-robber is thwarted by the clerk of the store he tried to rob.

Sandwich store clerk Yava Matthews punched the man in the mouth as he tried to get away with some money. Matthews said the man Monday night lunged over the counter and grabbed her cash drawer. Matthews said her “initial response was to hit him. So I hit him.”

However, the fight was also aided by the good Samaritans who happened to be in the store at the time of the robbery.

Matthews said the two were then “tussling, tussling and tussling,” so she asked customers and others witnessing the struggle if anyone had something to restrain the man. KHOU-TV reported somebody offered handcuffs. Another person produced a Taser, as the fight moved outside.

Can you imagine how that went?  You see a clerk walloping a hapless thief, and she asks for help.

First Customer: “Hmm, let’s see, I’ve got some pocket lint and this snack cake I was about to buy.”

Second Customer: “I just happen to have my handcuffs on me!  Good thing I just got off my shift as a handcuff assembly plant worker!”

First Customer: “Oh I forgot, I have a Taser in my back pocket. Here you go!”
