So this should have gone up on the site a long while back, but we here at Awesomeopolis have been so busy lately with parasailing with movie stars and playing laser tag and all.

We’d like to congratulate River Tam for winning our first ever bracket competition, when she defeated Dr. Gregory House in the Championships to take the victory.

To commemorate the victory, our good friend Drew has drafted a “Certificate of Awesome”.  I’ve written up a letter to go with it, and we’ve mailed it to Summer Glau.  If we ever hear a reply, we’ll be sure to post it on the site!

As if you didn’t already know, River Tam is a badass. No power in the ‘verse can stop her. She can kill you with her brain. Trapped by three shooters? Don’t sweat it. River can take ‘em all out with her eyes closed. Not to mention that she will look good doing it. In fact, one might even go so far to say that she is the most Badass TV Character. One might say it, but 3518 people DID say it in a recent battle-royale over at Awesomeopolis.com. From a field of 16, River dispatched the likes of Kara Thrace and Jack Bauer before her showdown with Dr. Gregory House. Even though he had his own rabid, devoted army behind him, the match-up was never really in question.

Congratulations! We here at Awesomeopolis.com ran a competition on our website titled “Who Is The Most Badass TV Character?” in May 2009, and your character, River Tam from Firefly, was voted by our readers at the winner!

Our readers selected their top 16 TV character choices, and then in the month of May we held head-to-head matchups. 29,997 votes were cast, and your fans came out in droves and supported you through the contest. River defeat Michael Westen from Burn Notice, Jack Bauer from 24, Kara Thrace from Battlestar Galactica, and finally Dr. Gregory House from House, M.D. to take it all and win the title!

To commemorate your victory, we have commissioned a “Certificate of Awesome” in River’s honor. Enclosed you will find two copies of said certificate. One is for you to sign and keep, and display where you see fit. Personally, we think it would go great next to a Monet or a Rembrandt. We would greatly appreciate it if you would sign the second copy and return it to us in the envelope we included. We would also greatly appreciate a signed headshot of you to proudly display on our website in the “Badass Bracket Hall of Fame” of which River is the inaugural member.
